Shipping and returns

Where Snowbird ships, what it costs, how long it takes, what is in the parcel, and how to return a board within 30 days or claim under the 12-month warranty.

Updated 6 October 2026

Every order ships by Canada Post from Kelowna, British Columbia. We ship to Canada and the United States, tracked services only. Rates are flat by destination and weight, and you see the exact amount at checkout before you pay.

What is in the parcel

A Snowbird board ships as a bare board, with no cell. Each board is sealed in an anti-static bag inside a padded mailer, with its pinout card and the compliance insert. Because no lithium cell is in the parcel, nothing in it is classed as dangerous goods, and there are no carrier restrictions or lithium battery marks.

A board weighs tens of grams. Most orders of one or two boards fall in the lightest band.

Rates

All amounts are in Canadian dollars. US rates include prepaid duty and brokerage, so there is nothing to pay on delivery.

Destination Service Up to 100 g Up to 500 g
Canada Tracked Packet $9.95 $13.95
Canada Expedited Parcel $17.95
United States Tracked Packet USA $14.95 $19.95
United States Expedited Parcel USA $29.95

Checkout shows only the services that fit your cart's weight band. We do not offer untracked letter mail, because a lost untracked parcel cannot be traced or claimed.

Processing and delivery

  1. Orders ship within two business days. Orders placed on a weekend or BC statutory holiday ship on the next business day.
  2. When the label is printed you receive an email with the tracking number and a link.
  3. Typical delivery, from the ship date:
Destination Tracked Packet Expedited Parcel
Western Canada 2 to 4 business days 1 to 3 business days
Rest of Canada 4 to 8 business days 2 to 5 business days
United States 6 to 12 business days 4 to 8 business days

These are Canada Post's typical times, not guarantees. Customs clearance on US parcels is usually quick because duty is prepaid, but it can add a few days.

Customs on US orders

Each US parcel carries a customs declaration generated from the order: the description "battery charger and power management board, no battery", the harmonized tariff code, the country of origin, and the declared value. Duty and brokerage are collected at checkout and prepaid, so the parcel is delivered duty paid. You will not get a bill at the door. If a carrier does ask you to pay, do not pay it; contact [email protected] with the tracking number and we will sort it out.

Lost or damaged parcels

If tracking stops moving for more than 10 business days past the estimate, or the parcel arrives damaged, email [email protected] with your order number within 14 days of the expected delivery. We open a claim with Canada Post and, in the meantime, send a replacement or refund you. You do not have to wait for the claim.

Returns within 30 days

An unused board in its original anti-static bag and packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the board price.

  1. Email [email protected] with your order number and which boards you are returning.
  2. We reply with a return merchandise authorization (RMA) number and the return address.
  3. Pack the board in its original bag and mailer, write the RMA number on the outside, and ship it tracked. You pay the return shipping unless the board was defective or we sent the wrong item, in which case we send a prepaid label.
  4. When the board arrives and is inspected, we refund through Stripe to the original payment method. Refunds appear within 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank.

Original shipping charges are not refunded unless the return is our fault. A board that has had a cell connected, headers soldered, or jumpers changed is used and goes through the warranty process instead.

Warranty

Every board carries a 12-month limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, counted from the delivery date. The full terms are on the warranty page. In short, the warranty does not cover a board that was:

  • run outside its published input, charge or output ratings;
  • used with the chemistry jumper set wrong for the cell connected;
  • physically damaged, including by water, reversed battery leads, or shorts;
  • modified, reworked or repaired by anyone other than us.

Starting a warranty claim

  1. Email [email protected] with the order number, the board, and a description of the fault. A photo and the output of the library's fault register, if you can read it, speed things up.
  2. We may ask a few questions first; many faults turn out to be a jumper or a cell issue we can solve by email.
  3. If the board needs to come back, we issue an RMA number and a prepaid return label.
  4. On inspection we repair the board, replace it, or refund it, usually within 10 business days of receiving it.

Returned boards go into our engineering failure record, so a field failure helps the next revision.

Safety incidents

If a board was involved in an incident that caused, or could have caused, injury or property damage, please tell us at once through the incident form rather than the return process. We are required to report such incidents to Health Canada within two days of learning of them.
